About Wayne Dorsett

 

Dr. G. Wayne Dorsett (DMin) has been a pastor of Southern Baptist Churches for over 30 years. Born in Birmingham, AL and raised in Mobile, AL, he received his education from the University of Mobile (BS) and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv) and Beeson Divinity School (D.Min). Dr. Dorsett has served in almost every type of church congregation experiencing solid growth with each opportunity.

 

Service and Recognition

Dr. Dorsett has served in a variety of state and national capacities in his pastoral career including the Alabama State Board of Missions, Alabama Baptist Committee on Nominations, Georgia Baptist Committee on Nominations, Southern Baptist Convention Committee on Committees and Committee on Nominations.

 

Other places of service include co-founder of Alabama Baptists for Life, president of Pastors for Life (Alabama), member of the Board of Regents of the University of Mobile, Charter member of American Association of Christian Counselors, member and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Southeast Georgia Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Honors include selection in Outstanding Young Men of America, president of the Alabama Baptist Pastor’s Conference, Distinguished Service Award from the University of Mobile and honorary commander of the 347th Rescue Wing, Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta, GA.

Ministry
Wayne Dorsett’s heart beats with the message of reaching lost people with the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ, leading the church to seek God’s face for personal and corporate revival and equipping untrained pastors for the work of ministry.
 
Family
He is married to the former Joy Johnson of Valdosta, GA (1976). He and Joy have two daughters, Erin Vaughn and Brittany (Matt) Starr and one son, Daniel. They are proud grandparents of Jenna, Harper and Eli Vaughn.
